Wedding at 434 Fannin Beaumont, TX | Maddison & Chris

If there were one thing I would want everyone to see in our work from the very start, it is the focus on people. Kimberly and I watched our wedding video not too long ago (a dvd copied from an old video camera that used a tiny tape, wow) and one thing we found ourselves commenting most on were seeing so many of our family members interacting with us. Not only was it fun to see how we looked back then, but there were many people in the video who aren’t with us at all anymore, or have moved far off. It’s a surreal thing to see how quickly we all change, and it is one of many reasons we say wedding photography only grows more valuable with time.

An odd occurrence has popped up in our industry lately, and to me, it’s the push to shoot weddings more as an idyllic photographer’s interpretation of a wedding day with less focus on people and events in order for the final gallery to look more ‘high-end’. If you see it, you know it, and I’ll leave it at that. To me, even a wedding is less than “ideal” be that from weather, budgets, décor, locations etc. None of it matters when you have genuine people living in the moments of joy on their wedding. Don’t get me wrong, I want our weddings to look high-end as well. We want that end result to be a gallery of amazing quality images. That’s what we are here for. But, in the end we will always be people focused first, and the rest will fall in to place.

Speaking of a couple who was super laid back and just completely head over heels gushing towards each other leave the rest of the world behind kind of lovey, Maddison and Chris were a blast to work with. It was a busy day hopping around town, but we ended the day at 434 Fannin here in Beaumont. If you have not seen it yet, it’s a cool place with a great vibe for events in what we’re all hoping is a growing trend of seeing Beaumont kind of reinvent itself in to the kind of place where people really want to be. In fact, with 434 Fannin we’ve seen some other venues pop up lately and we’ll hopefully get a chance to check all of those out over the next year or so.
