Wedding at St. Anthony Cathedral and Elegante Hotel

Funny thing about us (Kimberly and Kyle): We have memories of every wedding, that have almost nothing to do with photography. Shooting a wedding is like fluid muscle memory for us at this point, so the things that stand out the most are the moments, and people that take us outside of the norm. Sure, every wedding IS different. There are a hundred little things that we organize and prepare for, but in a way we have seen it all. So what really inspires us? There is always a little radar up for the things that are special about each wedding, beyond the standard flow of a day. It might be an emotion, a reaction, or simply a quiet pause in the day where a bride forgets there are a hundred people looking at them, and she is simply taking in the moment. It’s hard to describe. These things have always been there, and we’ve always looked for them, but after shooting weddings for the last ten years, we kind of soak in these little things with a different kind of appreciation and joy. So, ok yes, it’s about photography, but the memories we have are more about the people, versus the technical capture of that split second. We don’t like to really talk through each image, but I hope you can see some of this present in Carli and Zach’s wedding! Carli and Zach did all of their getting ready and their reception at The Elegante Hotel in Beaumont. I honestly don’t think it’s a spaced that’s used often enough in weddings. There’s really nothing like the big windows of a nice hotel room to make your pre-wedding hangout look fantastic. (As a side note, they also chose to display the ASTROS game that night on big screens during the reception. That was a seriously amazing move by the couple to let their guests see the World Series run while AT their reception. Kyle liked it too.) They were also married at St. Anthony Cathedral Basilica, which is like a second home to us as often as we shoot there! All in all “perfect” is the most over-used wedding word of all time, but I’m not sure any other word would do.
